Safety 2016 ford f150
The 2016 Ford F-150 received the highest five-star rating from the NHTSA in all three body styles. The IIHS considered the F-150 SuperCab and SuperCrew a 2016 Top Safety Pick for the truck’s ability to score the highest rating of “Good” in all crash evaluations (small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraints and seats).
The F-150 received the lowest rating of “Basic” for the front crash prevention evaluation due to the truck’s ability to warn the driver of a possible collision but the vehicle will not automatically brake. Available driver assist technologies include a 360-degree multi-camera system, Lane-Keeping System, blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control. Forward Collision Control will warn the driver of a possible collision and prime the brakes for maximum braking power. Curve Control, which works in conjunction with AdvanceTrac, will reduce the truck’s speed when going to fast on a curve.
In 2015 Motor Trend Truck of the Year testing, we liked the power of the 2.7-liter Ecoboost engine, the truck’s quietness at speed, and features like the 360-degree camera system, panoramic sunroof, LED headlights, BoxLink hardware, and available safety technology. However, the truck’s fuel economy, ride, and some cheap interior parts didn’t impress us: “So while we remain deeply impressed with the F-150 as an engineering feat, these two examples impressed us less as trucks.”
In a 2015 full-size truck comparison, the F-150 Lariat 4×4 placed second ahead of the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71 but behind the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel 4×4. “The Ford’s unknown maintenance and aluminum repair costs gave us pause, especially when combined with less-than-expected benefits from the weight savings. The Ram’s combination of exclusive features, towing and hauling abilities, driving experience, and unimpeachable fuel economy put it on top.
In Motor Trend testing, the 2015 F-150 Platinum FX4 3.5 Ecoboost is only .01 second quicker in 0-60 mph and in the quarter-mile than the 2015 F-150 Lariat 4×4 2.7 Ecoboost.
